Planning a trip to Bali or elsewhere in Indonesia? This guide breaks down the latest visa options for travelers to Indonesia, including the Visa on Arrival (VoA), e-VOA, and long-stay tourist visas. Whether you’re island-hopping or staying in Bali, understand the visa requirements for Indonesia before you go.

1. Visa-Free Entry (Visa Exemption Arrangement – VEA)

• Eligibility: Nationals of 15 countries (Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Colombia, Hong Kong, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Turkey, and Vietnam).
• Duration: Up to 30 days.
• Purpose: Tourism only.
• Limitations: Cannot be extended or converted to another visa type.

2. Visa on Arrival (VOA)

Standard VOA

• Eligibility: Citizens of 90+ countries (e.g., USA, UK, Australia).
• Duration: 30 days; extendable once for an additional 30 days.
• Cost: IDR 500,000 (~USD $35).
• How to Apply: Obtain at major airports and seaports upon arrival.
• Documents Required:
  • Passport valid for at least six months.
  • Proof of onward or return flight.
  • Visa fee in cash.

Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA)

• Convenience: Apply online before departure via the official immigration website (evisa.imigrasi.go.id/web/application_bvk).
• Duration & Cost: Same as the standard VOA.
• Payment: Visa, Mastercard, or JCB credit/debit card.
• Documents Required: Valid passport.
• Benefits: Skip long lines at the airport and enjoy an easier extension process. With the e-VOA, you can log in to the official site and click “Extend My Visa“, your info is already in the system. But if you get your VOA at the airport, none of that’s saved, so extending it means two trips to the Visa Office: one to apply, and another to collect it.
• Tips: Use your phone to sign up, it’s faster and easier. During the process, you’ll be prompted to take a picture of your passport, and the system will automatically fill in all the required details. 

3. Tourist Visas

Single Entry Tourist Visa

• Duration: Initial stay of 60 days; extendable twice (up to 180 days total).
• Purpose: Tourism or transit.
• Cost: IDR 1,000,000 (~USD $65).
• Application: Online via evisa.imigrasi.go.id or the Indonesian consulate in your country.
• Documents Required:
  • Passport.
  • Recent photograph.
  • Proof of financial (personal bank statement or equivalent).

Tourism Multiple Entry Visa

• Duration:
  • Stay up to 60 days per entry.
  • Valid for 1 year (IDR 3,000,000/~USD $200), 3 years (IDR 5,000,000/~USD $330), or 5 years (IDR 10,000,000/~USD $660).
• Purpose: Leisure travel with flexibility for multiple visits.
• Application: Online via evisa.imigrasi.go.id or the Indonesian consulate in your country.

4. Other Visa Types

For non-tourism purposes like business, employment, study, or investment:

• Visit the official Indonesian immigration website or contact the nearest embassy/consulate for specific requirements.

Bali Entry Checklist (Beyond the Visa)

1. Valid Passport
   Must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival, with at least one blank page.
2. Return/Onward Ticket
   Required for entry to show you won’t overstay your visa.
3. All Indonesia Arrival Card (NEW – August 2025)
   This replaces the old Custom Declaration and SATU SEHAT Health Pass. Complete it online within 3 days of your flight at (allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id)
4. Bali Tourist Tax
